Pure pleasure in Gold and Color Gem

It all started from a piece of an unwanted gem stone over decades ago.

Since I was a child, I always enjoy the moment when my mom took out her jewelry pieces from the savings to watch. In those conservative years of Taiwan, jewelries are kept for the value and memorial meaning seldom for wearing purpose. Among these items, there is a piece of long oval smoky quarts which was a gift to her another decades ago but she had never made it into jewelry for its particular shape. She passed it to me in my teenager years and I kept for another 2 decades until I explored jewelry making in NYC.

I had the Myth Signature Ring design in sketch and made in clay, and start to ask jewelers to produce them. It is created almost like intuition without doubt of the gold and gem stone shape combination.

After a long research, with limited resource and fund, finally a jeweler in Shanghai was willing to take this challenge while others rejected for it’s complicated structure. In 2014, the first mockup was made.

The gold twisted wire enclosure in Myth Collection can’t be done perfectly without experienced craftsmanship. The heat from metal soldering process is a threat of cracking natural gem stones. To create jewelries that I can’t find in the market to satisfy myself, I insist to produce in customized gem stones and looking for better jewelers in the limited budget to perfect them.

All the pieces in Myth Collection are now produced in my home country Taiwan by experienced craftsmen who take high-end jewelry orders. The AAA quality gem stones from Brazil are customized and cut in Jaipur where the metier has been practiced over 300 years.
